HP Unveils Eco-Friendly Laptop and All-in-One Desktops Using Recycled Materials and Coffee Grounds at CES 2023

An Eco-Friendly Laptop

HP unveiled two new eco-friendly computers at CES 2023. The first is the 14-inch Eco Edition laptop, which is made up of a combination of recycled post-consumer materials, recycled metals, and used cooking oil. The laptop also features a display cover made of 50% recycled aluminum and keycaps made of 50% post-consumer recycled plastics.

The second eco-friendly computer from HP is a new all-in-one PC available in 24-inch and 27-inch sizes. These devices use composite recycled materials to create their innovative frames.

The 14-inch Eco Edition is HP’s most environmentally friendly laptop to date, and the company’s use of used cooking oil in its construction addresses a global disposal problem in a unique way.

Despite its use of environmentally-friendly materials, the 14-inch Eco Edition laptop does not compromise performance. It is powered by a 13th-generation Intel processor and offers up to 1TB of SSD storage, up to 16GB of dedicated RAM, and a full HD or QHD display panel with a 16:10 aspect ratio. The laptop also includes a full HD webcam.

An Eco-Friendly All-in-One PC

HP has also incorporated sustainable materials into its all-in-one PCs, available in 24-inch and 27-inch sizes. The chassis of these devices is made of 40% post-consumer recycled materials, while the stand arms and necks are constructed of 75% recycled aluminum. The felt base is made of 100% recycled polyester, and the bezel features organic materials, such as coffee grounds, which give the AIO a unique, speckled finish. When viewed up close, the coffee grains are clearly visible.

Both the 24-inch and 27-inch all-in-one PCs are equipped with powerful hardware, offering a choice of next-generation AMD or Intel processors. The AMD option allows for up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM or up to 16GB of DDR5 RAM, while the Intel option offers up to 1TB of SSD storage. Both models provide users with a range of options for optimizing performance.

Both the 24-inch and 27-inch all-in-one PCs feature full HD displays with optional touch control, as well as optional 1080p webcams. They also include the latest Wi-Fi 6 and Bluetooth 5.3 technology for enhanced connectivity.

Environmental Impact with New Systems

In addition to their use of environmentally-friendly materials, these new products from HP are also packaged with 100% sustainably sourced and recyclable materials, eliminating the use of zip ties, plastic bags, and packing foam. This helps to reduce waste and decrease HP’s carbon footprint.

The pricing and release date for these products have not yet been announced, but we are looking forward to the opportunity to try out the laptop and all-in-one PCs when they become available later this year.
