The DR. J HI-04 is referred to as a “mini projector” since it is significantly smaller than a standard projector and is designed for portability. It’s not exactly “pocket-sized,” weighing around 3 lbs. and measuring just 7.8 x 2.7 x 6.02 inches, but it’s much more portable than you might think.
When you first glance at it, you’ll note that all of the controls are easily situated on top. Play/pause, volume, next/previous, and a directional pad are all included. Furthermore, the keystone adjustment and focus adjustments are located on the top side of the lens, just behind the lens.
All of the inputs are on the right side, allowing you to attach nearly any type of media. VGA, HDMI, USB, and auxiliary inputs are all located here. The power cord input is on the left side, and that’s all there is to it. The layout is simple, yet it allows you to connect almost any device you want to project.
The DR. J HI-04 has a native resolution of 840 x 480 pixels, which isn’t particularly spectacular, but it can support 1080p HD with some downscaling.
This implies that, though it supports 1080 x 1920 resolutions, it will automatically convert the input resolution to 840 x 480 pixels on the screen. Because the screen size can be up to 170 inches, most viewers will not notice that it isn’t projecting in full HD.
Needless to say, most movies will look fantastic.
With all of the DR. J HI-04’s features, it’s clear from the outset that multimedia projection is what it’s designed for.
It excels at gaming, movie watching, and all-around enjoyment. Virtually any device may connect in seconds and display on-screen at a size up to 170 inches thanks to a variety of input possibilities.
Several elements, including as ambient illumination, projection distance, and input source, might influence viewing quality.
However, we must mention that if you have optimum lighting and a projection size of 100 to 120 inches, you’ll be in the sweet spot. Movies look terrific, and gaming is incredible.
There’s nothing quite like viewing or playing a game on a projector that’s more than twice the size of a typical television. Colours are bright, brilliant, and saturated, with blacks that aren’t quite as deep as those on television but still respectable.
A stereo speaker is built in into the HI-04, however, we have to say, it isn’t the best. The volume is not loud enough, and the quality is adequate but not exceptional. The good news is that you may easily improve the sound quality by connecting external speakers.
The auxiliary input can be used to accomplish this. Simply plug in your preferred speaker, turn it on, and you’re ready to go. We have to remark that taking the time to connect better speakers will significantly improve your experience.
Sure, the inbuilt speaker will suffice for the time being, but if you’re trying to immerse yourself in an intensive video game or thought-provoking film, consider the audio.
